About This Event
Patricia Okker, Ph.D., was appointed president of New College of Florida on July 1, 2021. Prior to her appointment she had a lengthy career at the University of Missouri serving as the Chair of the English Dept., then the Provost’s Office, followed by appointment as the Dean of the College of Arts and Science in 2017. Her teaching and research interests include 19th-century American literature, American women writers and American periodicals. She received the William T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence in 2003. All her degrees are in English Language and Literature, with a B.A. from Allegheny College, M.A. from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.\
